The bubbly lovers bundle was put together after trying hundreds of sparkling wines throughout Europe. These wines will surely impress and show that sparkling wines don't have to just come from one region. Pop those corks and let's celebrate!
1) Murganheira Super Reserva Brut 2017 - Vivino 4.0
The Super Reserva Bruto is made from some of the finest grapes in the Beira region. With 2017 being an exceptional year this has made a superb gastronomic sparkling wine. Made from Malvasia Fina, Cerceal e Tinta Roriz with 4 years in bottle with annual batonnage. Clear with a fine and persistent bubble release. Clean citrus in colour. Very harmonious aromas with vanillic notes. In the mouth it is delicate and elegant with a lingering finish which is hallmark of its balance
2) Murganheira Chardonnay 2014 - Vivino 4.1
This grand Cuvée produced from stringently selected Chardonnay grapes to commemorate the New Millennium. We make a toast to two thousand years of civilisation, illustrated by the artistic genius of Armanda Passos. Golden straw color. Intense aroma (vanilla and apricot), notes of the wood where it fermented. Fresh and woody flavor, with very fine and persistent acidity.
3) Cartuxa Reserva Brut - Vivino 4.2
Fermented in French oak barrels with lees aging and stirring for six months. Second fermentation in the bottle by the classic “méthode champenoise” followed by another 6 year of lees aging and stirring. Intense and deep gold colour. Very delicate perlage. The nose opens with vinyl, which surprised me. Butter, almond and soft apple are discernible as well. Nice balance of soft aromas and grippy acidity and bitterness. The bubbly sensation is much stronger than the appearance in the glass suggests, which adds to the refreshing experience.
4) Hibernus Cuvee De Noirs 2017 - Vivino 4.2
Hibernus is latin for winter, the season in which carvalheiras releases its fine sparkling wines. Fruit of a permanent surgical requirement that reconciles integrity, character and elegance. Enjoy this wine within the first two years of degorgament which is engraved on bottle. A Bairrada region sparkling wine made from Baga (60%), Touriga Nacional (40%). Pale Salmon colour. Very fine aroma, with notes of fruits fresh reds like wild strawberries and raspberries, toasted bread and cookies. At mouth is quite balanced, creamy, having a fresh and fruity finish.
5) Hibernus Cuvee Grande Cuvee 2017 - Vivino 4.4
This wine has been rated as #1 sparkling wine in Portugal. Made from Chardonnay (36%), Arinto (34%), Baga (30%). Fermentation takes place in bottle during 30 days at 14C. Straw yellow coloured wine. Very fine aroma, with notes of toast, bark and for citrus fruit, butter cookies and fruit dry toasts. In the mouth it’s very balanced, fresh, creamy and persistent.
6) Casa de Santar Touriga Nacional Brut 2015 - Vivino 4.3
Vinha dos Amores is the most prestigious vineyard belonging to Casa de Santar. This single grape varietal Touriga Nacional 2015 is a wonderful wine that expresses well the terroir of this native grapes land. Made from Touriga Nacional and spends 24 months in bottle using the traditional method. Complex and distinct, it has a fine and persistent bubble, with aromas of red fruit jelly, biscuit and toasted bread predominating.
