Intro: The 2017 “Les Charmes” from Domaine Faiveley is a refined yet serious expression of the famed Premier Cru in the village of Chambolle Musigny (Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France). The vineyard “Les Charmes” sits just beneath the Grand Cru vineyards of the village and is considered one of the most prestigious Premier Crus of Chambolle Musigny; Faiveley’s bottling from this site combines elegant fruit and fine minerality. According to Faiveley’s “Les Charmes” technical summary (for recent vintages) the parcel is east south east facing, clay limestone soils, and the estate uses 40-50% new oak for its ageing in this cuvée.

Region: Burgundy || Winery: Domaine Faiveley

Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Aging: Approximately 16-18 months in French oak barrels (with 40-50% new oak for this vintage)

ABV: 13.5% || Decant: 30-45 minutes || Serving Temp: 16-17°C

Pairing: Roast duck breast with cherry or plum jus; mature, but elegant cheeses such as aged Comté or Époisses

Tasting Notes: The 2017 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, Faiveley shows a medium to deep ruby hue with aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, violet, rose, and subtle spice over a mineral undertone. Medium to full bodied with fine, silky tannins, it offers a vibrant red berry core, balanced oak, and lively acidity that enhance its structure and length. The finish is long, refined, and persistent, combining finesse with depth and promising graceful evolution in bottle

Rating (Complexity & Vintage Year): 94 AA
