Barde Haut - Saint Emilion 2020
Intro: The 2020 Barde Haut is described as a powerful yet elegant wine: opulent dark fruit, fine tension, good structure, and excellent ageing potential. For example: “a bright, juicy, yet powerful bouquet of ripe blue fruits, scorched earth, tobacco, and cedary herbs”. Though on the smaller side compared to some Grand Cru estates, Barde Haut’s vineyard is uniquely positioned in an amphitheatre formation and benefits from excellent exposure and classic limestone/clay soils.

Tasting Notes: The 2015 Saint Émilion Ausone shows deep garnet-purple colour with aromas of plum preserve, blueberry, cherry pie, rose, licorice, and cedar. Medium to full bodied with silky yet firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a precise dark fruit core over a chalky, mineral backbone. Exceptionally long, fresh, and refined; powerful yet elegant; often hailed as one of the wines of the vintage
