Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes 2021
Intro: The 2021 Les Frionnes from Domaine Hubert Lamy is a superb Saint Aubin white, managing both energy and finesse from the outset. The climat “Les Frionnes” sits on a high slope, south east facing aspect in Saint Aubin, with very shallow limestone soils and old vines (1935, 1960, 1985 plantings) planted by the Lamy estate. For the 2021 vintage, yields were extremely low at around 20 hl/ha on this parcel, due to frost and vineyard stress. The domaine uses large demi muids (600 L) and larger barrels, with minimal new oak (0-15%) for this cuvée, allowing the terroir to speak.

Tasting Notes: The 2021 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes, Hubert Lamy shows a pale lemon hue with green gold tints. The nose reveals white flowers, citrus oil, green apple, oyster shell, and subtle toasted nut. Medium bodied with racy acidity, a core of orchard and citrus fruit, and pronounced chalky saline minerality. The finish is long, electric, and refined; vibrant now but built to age beautifully
