Intro: The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru “Porusots” from Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a compelling white Burgundy that combines finesse with palpable mineral drive. The “Porusots” vineyard (often spelled “Poruzots/Porusots”) lies on very stony, calcareous marl soils (“petrosa” meaning rocky places) just next to the more famous “Genevrières” in Meursault, giving the wine its chalky mineral character. Domaine Comtes Lafon is managed by Dominique Lafon, a legendary figure in Burgundy whites, and the estate uses organic/biodynamic practices.
