Intro: The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru “Les Gouttes d’Or” from Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a rich yet tension filled white Burgundy that embodies depth, minerality and terroir clarity. The “Les Gouttes d’Or” vineyard parcel is historic. The estate acquired it decades ago and it lies on one of the most stony, well drained portions of Meursault 1er Cru, giving the wine its hallmark minerality. Production is very small (given the tiny parcel size and the estate’s selection) which contributes to its rarity and collector appeal.

Tasting Notes: The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Gouttes d'Or, Comtes Lafon shows pale gold with green highlights, with aromas of citrus, white peach, white flowers, subtle mint, and gentle oak/lees. Medium to full bodied, with firm minerality, chalky texture, pear and peach core, hints of hazelnut and brioche. The finish is long, focused, and structured, currently tight but with excellent aging potential
