Bacalhoa Chardonnay White 2022
Intro: Bacalhoa is the name of the palace where the vines for this wine is grown. When we tried this wine, we immediately knew it was coming with us, it has been described as rivaling a more expensive left bank Bordeaux by our wine community in Singapore.
Region: Peninsula de Setubal || Winery: Bacalhoa
Grapes: Chardonnay
Aging: 60% of the wine fermented and aged 5 months and a half in wooden barrels
ABV: 13% || Decant: Ready to drink upon opening || Serving Temp: 10-12 °C
Pairing: The ideal accompaniment to intensely flavored fish dishes or poultry
Tasting Notes: Pale yellow in color, with greenish reflections, a rich aroma of yellow fruits characteristic of the Chardonnay variety, such as peach and pineapple, combined with toasted and vanilla “nuances”, from the contact with French wood. In the mouth, we find strong flavors of yellow fruits well combined with wood, a clear acidity, which gives it a mineral character and a full and persistent finish. With the aging in the bottle, it gains complexity, highlighting notes of dried fruits.
Rating (Complexity & Vintage Year): 90 CA
