Intro: Produced by Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Cartuxa wines carry deep historical significance. The estate takes its name from the Cartuxa Monastery in Évora, where Carthusian monks settled in the 16th century. The “Colheita” range offers a refined yet approachable expression of the estate’s identity.

Aging: Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and vats, and for 18 months in the bottle in the cellars of the Cartuxa Monastery

Tasting Notes: The 2021 Cartuxa Colheita Red is smooth, generous, and fruit-forward. It opens with aromas of ripe red cherries, plums, and blackberries, accented by notes of sweet spice, violet, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins supporting flavors of juicy dark berries, red plum, and hints of cocoa and toasted oak. Balanced acidity brings freshness, while the finish is long and elegant with lingering notes of spice and fruit, a polished yet approachable expression from Alentejo.
