Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Bas 2018
Intro: The 2018 “Les Rugiens Bas” from Domaine Michel Gaunoux is a premier cru red Burgundy from the village of Pommard, widely regarded for its concentration, structure and ageing potential. “Les Rugiens Bas” is a notable premier cru climat just below the more famed “Les Rugiens” and is often regarded as offering similarly strong terroir with slightly different exposures and soils. The producer notes that their wines are released a few years after harvest. As one importer described: “…he keeps the wines in the cellar and releases them three years after the harvest.”

Full bodied with firm yet supple tannins, a core of dark fruit, spice, and stony minerality. The finish is long, structured, and precise. Showing both power and restraint, built for long term aging
