Intro: The “Old Vines” bottling comes from field blends of 100+ year-old vines, where dozens of indigenous Douro grape varieties are co-planted. This mixed planting is a tradition in the region, designed to maintain biodiversity and create wines of layered complexity.
Region: Douro (D.O.C) || Winery: Quinta do Javali
Grapes: Old vines that contain 30+ varietals including: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cão and Tinta Barroca
Aging: Aged in French oak barrels (usually 18–24 months) for structure and complexity.
ABV: 14.5% || Decant: 2-3 hours || Serving Temp: 16-18°C
Pairing: Grilled Meats, Cheese, Charcuterie, Steak
Tasting Notes: A rich dark red colored wine. The nose characterized by notes of ripe black fruit, with hints of stone of black plums, dark chocolate and cocoa nibs, bark, tobacco and some leather, throughout evolution. In the mouth, the structure is striking, with tannins well presented, elegant and harmonious, to contribute to a silky body.
