Montlandrie - Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux 2020
Intro: The 2020 Château Montlandrie presents a deep garnet purple hue and opens with vibrant notes of crushed blackberries, juicy black plums and mulberries, layered with hints of bay leaves, cardamom, ground black pepper and black truffles. On the palate it is medium to full bodied, offering impressive freshness, a solid backbone of soft yet grainy tannins, and ripe dark fruit that finishes long with a peppery kick. This estate lies on the limestone rich plateau of Castillon, and in 2009 was acquired by the late Denis Durantou (of Château L’Église Clinet fame). His daughter, Noémie Durantou, now oversees the domaine, blending Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon to exploit the terroir’s minerality.
