Intro: The 2019 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Faiveley offers a powerful yet refined expression of one of the prestigious Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru terroirs. Domaine Faiveley’s parcel of Mazis Chambertin covers about 1.55 ha, planted in years including 1937, 1959 and 1974 on shallow marl/limestone soils. The climat “Mazis” lies just above Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze and is considered one of the finer Grand Cru sites of Gevrey Chambertin. Faiveley notes their vines are on the “Mazis Haut” portion which offers extra depth and minerality.
