Le Gay - Pomerol 2014
Intro: The 2014 vintage of Château Le Gay is praised for its purity, balance and sense of terroir. One note described it as delivering “a fabulous bouquet of brambly red berry fruit tinged with black truffle, roasted chestnut and just a hint of hung game. There is such depth and persistence.” Though the vintage was more challenging, this wine managed to produce medium bodied richness combined with fine tannins and lifted acidity, making it accessible yet ageworthy. Château Le Gay stands just north of the Pomerol plateau and shares soils and micro climate with some of Pomerol’s most prestigious estates; yet it offers comparatively rare production (1,200–1,500 cases) and excellent value for the quality.
