Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Craipillot 2017
Intro: This 2017 vintage of “Craipillot” from the esteemed house of Domaine Confuron Cotetidot, based in Vosne Romanée, is a red Burgundy Premier Cru from the village of Gevrey Chambertin (Côte de Nuits). The parcel “Craipillot” is located in Gevrey Chambertin, a sought after village with robust Pinot Noir wines; the Confuron family’s version is noted for being a little more refined/graceful rather than overtly powerful. The estate uses whole cluster vinification (they do not destem their vines) and very late harvests, meaning the stems are ripe and contribute structure and complexity.
