Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019
Intro: This 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Faiveley is an imposing yet refined Burgundy from one of the most iconic sites in the Côte de Nuits. The wine opens with aromas of cherries, wild berries, rose petal and loamy soil, framed by spicy new oak touches. The palate is medium to full bodied, layered and structured; elegantly muscular with terrific depth and a long penetrating finish. Domaine Faiveley owns three separate parcels within the 50 hectare historic walled vineyard of Clos de Vougeot, making their bottling a highly regarded expression of this Grand Cru. The winemaking for this cuvée is meticulous: hand harvested grapes, more than three weeks of vatting, and ageing in fine French oak barrels (60% new in 2019) allow the wine to convey both power and finesse.
