Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins 2019 || Magnum
Intro: This 2019 vintage of the Réserve des Célestins presents one of the most prestigious expressions of the renowned Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. Produced by Domaine Henri Bonneau, it is drawn from top parcels (notably La Crau) and crafted in a highly tradition driven style: old vines, whole cluster or very minimal destemming, long élevage in old large oak (foudres & barriques), and only in the great years. The result is a wine of great depth, powerful fruit, complex garrigue and leather/earth/olive understorey, significant structure and remarkable ageing potential. The label “Réserve des Célestins” references the legendary style of this cuvée from Henri Bonneau. Made only in the greatest years, and often hailed as one of the most collectible Châteauneuf du Pape wines. Many consider Bonneau’s vintages comparable with the top of Rhône or even Bordeaux in their longevity and character.

Tasting Notes: The 2019 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf du Pape Réserve des Célestins shows a deep, almost opaque ruby hue with purple reflections. Aromas of black cherry, kirsch, plum, Provençal herbs, leather, tobacco, truffle, and subtle spice. Full bodied yet refined, with a lush black fruit core, velvet tannins, broad texture, and a mineral/pepper undertone. The finish is very long and persistent, built for extended ageing
