Colli di Salerno Rosso 2020
Intro: “Montevetrano” was almost a legend in the making by chance founded by Silvia Imparato and Riccardo Cotarella in 1991 with just a handful of bottles. The wine has since been dubbed the “Sassicaia of the South” by Robert Parker for its elegance and prestige. Each vintage is crafted entirely in-house from vineyard to bottle.
Region: Campania || Winery: Montevetrano
Grapes: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Aglianico, 20% Merlot
Aging: Aged 12 months in new 225-liter French oak barriques and then refined in the bottle for at least six months
ABV: 14.5% || Decant: 60 minutes || Serving Temp: 16-18°C
Pairing: Grilled red meats (especially beef and lamb), aged cheeses, and dishes with earthy or herbal notes, such as mushrooms or truffle pasta.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby-red in color, the 2020 Montevetrano opens with aromas of blackberries and spices, layered with hints of black currants and licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet refined, with fine-grained tannins and a rich, silky texture that lingers elegantly.
