Bacalhoa Moscatel de Setubal Superior 40 Anos 1983 (Pre-Sale)
Intro: The story begins with the Moscatel de Setúbal grapes from our Serra da Ursa vineyard located in the hills at the foot of Arrábida. This is the “terroir” of excellence of the great wines of DO Setúbal. The harvest ended on Thursday, October 27, 1983. We have now decided, after 40 years, to bottle a limited edition of 200 0.5L bottles of the same original wine. The future will tell when the next bottling of this extraordinary harvest will be.

Tasting Notes: The 1983 Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal Superior 40 Anos is a rare and extraordinary fortified wine, showcasing the richness that only decades of aging can bring. The bouquet is intensely aromatic, with layers of candied orange peel, fig, and apricot, intertwined with notes of caramel, toffee, roasted almond, and exotic spice. On the palate, it is concentrated and unctuous, offering flavors of dried fruit, honey, coffee, and molasses balanced by a vibrant acidity that provides lift and elegance. Hints of vanilla, cocoa, and balsamic tones unfold with time in the glass. The finish is endlessly long, complex, and harmonious, a majestic meditation wine of remarkable depth and refinement.
