Auxey Duresses Les Clous 2009
Intro: The 2009 “Les Clous” from Domaine d’Auvenay is a white Burgundy of exceptionally rare pedigree from the village appellation of Auxey Duresses. Produced by Lalou Bize Leroy under biodynamic cultivation. The vineyard parcel “Les Clous” belongs to Domaine d’Auvenay is very small (0.31 ha) and forms part of a highly restricted production from a domaine of only 4 ha in total. Lalou Bize Leroy applies the same ultra rigorous biodynamic and low yield practices in this village level Chardonnay as she does for her Grand Cru holdings, which helps explain why this bottle is so sought after.

Tasting Notes: The 2009 Auxey Duresses Les Clous, Domaine d’Auvenay displays a pale golden hue with aromas of pear, yellow fruit, hazelnut, honeysuckle, and pronounced flinty minerality. Medium bodied yet powerful, it shows fine acidity, orchard fruit, subtle oak creaminess, and chalky depth. The finish is long, saline, and poised, with lingering minerality and fruit. Now beautifully evolved, it reveals tertiary notes of honey and truffle with age
